Honey

The Honeybees have arrived and have been installed in their new hives. So far all 3 hives are doing really well. One had to have a new Queen installed but I think we are on our way.

Honeybees are docile and more interested in doing their work than messing with people, especially when away from the hive. So have no fear!

Hopefully in the fall of 2010 the first small harvest of raw honey will be available for sale. I do intend, however, to do things a bit different than traditional beekeepers, in that I plan to leave enough honey for the bees to survive through the winter and early spring without feeding extra sugar water. I can see the need with new hives but once established, I hope to go as natural as possible.
